I am an artist living within the natural world and rural community of Salt Spring Island. I write, paint and make films amongst huge cedar, fir, maple, and a hundred year old yew. Days are spent in solitude and contemplation as I walk beside a running creek, meditate in a rock garden, plant vegetables and flowers beneath a yawning sky and hike down a narrow path to the ocean.
Artistic inspiration comes from these earth-centred activities, as well as art historical perspectives, poetic and experimental cinema and my love of literature and all things female. Please see my art here.
I have lived in different places and traveled in many ways. After art school I took part in the ‘back to the land’ movement of the 1970’s by moving to the Gaspe Peninsula. I hitchhiked across Mexico with my child, backpacked in Europe in my 40’s, studied creative writing in Boulder, Colorado and trained for Marine Search and Rescue in the Gulf Islands. I am resilient and creative.
